How to stay focused during the lockdown?

Updated: Apr 3

Hello all, this is Natasha from NKH Fitness.

I am going to write about how I keep myself active during the lockdown. These days you get caught up with things such as the pandemic, lockdown, news and media that stop you from working out and taking care of yourself. However, I have managed to keep myself fit.

I admit that I gained weight during the first lockdown last year by eating so many takeaways, chocolates, and cakes – also watching too much news. That’s why the whole lockdown took a toll on my mental health and worried about the whole thing.

So the months have passed, so I am staying focused and putting myself first.

Here are my Q&A to stay focused:

How do you keep active?

I still teach and work as a fitness instructor - building an online business through Zoom and On Demand through my website. I have filmed several of fitness sessions since last year and teach through live streams as well. Outside of business, I currently go for a 5k or 10k jog to challenge myself in the morning personally. I also do some cardio exercises at home about 3-4 times per week and use dumbbells for strength training 1-2 days per week. I'm not a fan of the gym or treadmills! Stretching is so important to relax aching muscles from the entire workout I’ve done.

What food do you eat?

I don’t do diets! I’m sticking to 80/20 rules. I have eggs, omelette with avocado/toast for breakfast, fruit smoothie, plenty of soup for lunch, salmon and vegetables for dinner. And sometimes I eat nuts and fruits for dessert or a mid-afternoon snack. I do have some treats less in moderation. Drinking lots of water is important to stay hydrated.

How do you look after your mental health?

My mental health is a priority for me emotionally and mentally. I do some meditation with calm music, watch less news, write down my thoughts, draw, spend time less on social media personally (I use it for business), read books, listen to music loud (without headphones) and spend time with my loved ones through messages and sometimes phone calls. These things have helped me to maintain my good mental health.

This is how I take care of myself during the lockdown. This is called discipline and being committed. You can follow those tips, that I’ve answered, and stick with them if you want.

I hope this inspires you to stay focused mentally and physically.

Take care and stay safe,

Natasha
